UKC/AKC Information

UKC (United Kennel Club) is currently the only registry that will register the Alaskan Klee Kai.

However! Advocates for this breed are working on getting the breed fully accepted by AKC (American Kennel Club).

We joined the bulk Foundation Stock Service (FSS) registration in March 2021 for our boy Jax, organized by the Alaskan Klee Kai Club of America (AKKCOA). Juneau was registered with the FSS service in August of 2022. Emmi was registered with the FSS at birth.

By registering our dogs with AKC-FSS, it helps the AKKCOA move the breed forward toward its goal of achieving full AKC recognition, registration, and full participation qualification.

The Alaskan Klee Kai is currently a Foundation Stock Service breed and is working to become part of the AKC Non-Sporting Group. The Alaskan Klee Kai will be joining the Misc group in 2025.

Once registered with AKC-FSS, AKK may compete in all companion events (agility, obedience, rally, and tracking), but are not yet able to compete in AKC Conformation events.
